The Field

I don't have a picture of this place.  When I was a teenager the owner of the field planted hundreds of trees there.  It's a thick forest now.

A field : an expanse of open or cleared ground, especially a piece of land suitable or used for pasture or tillage.  I feel as though this is what I've been doing there.  Like a sheep I feed there, with my Shepherd.

Jesus uses the idea of a field often in the Gospels.  My favourite, and most fitting, are the parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl,  Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."  That field for me is where I spend a great deal of time with Jesus.  The Kingdom of God hidden in plain sight.

  1. "The Kingdom of God hidden in plain sight." That is a powerful line. We are the ones who are supposed to see it, and to bring what we see into being.
